From our landmark location in Downtown New Bedford, MA

Welcome to Freestone’s City Grill.

A Little History…

We are honored to call the historic Citizens’ National Bank Building our home.

Built in 1870 by Caleb Hammond and Sons, Jonathan Beauvais purchased the building and added its signature longmeadow freestones & handcrafted mahogany interior. The Citizens’ National Bank eventually moved on, and the building would be used for banking and warehousing before beginning its restaurant and bar career. First came the famed Haskell’s Cafe, complete with Go-Go Girls, in cages, then the Pequod Lounge. Kerry Mitchell and Debby Seguin purchased the Pequod Lounge in 1978, and opened Freestone’s Restaurant and Bar in 1979. After 27 years of hard work and dedicated service to our patrons, they made the decision to sell Freestone’s as a turn key restaurant and bar. Our mission is to infuse the traditions and celebrations of the past, with modern day comforts & an eclectic, seasonal menu, keeping the spirit of Freestone’s alive in Downtown New Bedford for generations to come.

With gratitude,
